I'll also note that, to date, I have only listened to 9 2008 releases all the way through (I have ordered Edison Glass and Shai Hulud after reading Eric's top ten however). So this is more of a complete listing than the cream of the crop. That said, I'd recommend all of them except Underoath and Dragonforce. Also, if I made the list now, I might switch some of the albums in the middle around, but I'll stick with my original picks.
In Eric's defense, I did send this to him in at least three separate emails, so I can't blame him for not getting it completely 100% accurate.
Note - This was partly due to being busy but also because I got into a lot of older music this year. I was planning to do an '07 retrospective top ten on the Village Tavern and include this with them, but since that probably won't happen, here's my top five albums from before 2008 that I got into this year (all of which I would highly recommend):
